CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — After a problem Sunday that blocked the Centerville Turnpike Bridge, repairs are complete again.
The bridge remained stuck in the open position on Sunday afternoon. Public Works responded to the breakdown and was able to reopen it to traffic at 4:45 p.m.
On Monday, Chesapeake tweeted an update that electrical repairs were complete and crews were able to successfully open and close the bridge.
The Centerville Turnpike Bridge has had its fair share of misfortune recently.
the bridge was hit by a barge in November 2020, which causes it to become stuck in the open position. The bridge reopened in early May after repairs.
The bridge was also closed for repairs for six months before the barge incident, from October 2019 to February 2020.
