A person has been taken to hospital in critical condition following a workplace incident at an electricity company in Invercargill.
Police spent most of the day at the NES’ Liddell St premises following the incident, but a police spokesman said details of what happened remained unclear.
It appears someone has fallen, the spokesperson said, adding that Worksafe had been notified.
Fire and Emergency NZ were called to the scene at 9.10am, followed by police at 9.25am.

A spokesman for St John’s confirmed an ambulance and rapid response vehicle were dispatched to the West Invercargill address at 9.10am, and one person was taken to Southland Hospital in a critical condition.
NES employs electricians, electrical inspectors and linemen and offers a range of specialist power services.
A company director said they were told not to speak to the media about the incident and declined to comment.
